How to Choose Web Hosting

Turn your website requirements into a shortlist of hosting plans and useful questions.

A good hosting decision begins with a requirements list. Two plans with similar prices can differ in storage, website count, runtime support and who performs maintenance. Avoid choosing only from a claim that one package is the fastest or best.

Practical steps

  1. List your application, runtime versions, databases, website count and email accounts. Measure current storage use and include uploads, logs, staging copies and expected growth.
  2. Record required operational features: HTTPS, backups, restore access, support channels, deployment method and any scheduled jobs. Ask for confirmation of anything absent from the plan table.
  3. Compare server location with your audience, but also review page weight and application efficiency. Local hosting cannot compensate for excessively large images or slow database queries.
  4. Evaluate the full billing term, renewal arrangement and exit process. Ask how you export data and how package changes are handled before making a commitment.

Check the result

Match each must-have requirement to a published feature or a written answer from support. Test the application on an approved preview environment before moving a critical production workload.

Before you proceed

An unlimited account count does not establish unlimited CPU, memory, storage or throughput. Check fair-use and resource conditions for your actual workload.
