How to Install WordPress on Hosting

Prepare your domain, HTTPS and administrator access before using the available installation tools.

Prepare the domain, hosting account and access arrangements before installing WordPress. An installer can create the application, but it cannot decide your content structure, maintenance responsibilities or business privacy requirements.

Practical steps

  1. Confirm supported WordPress and PHP requirements, database availability and sufficient storage. Use the account's WordPress Toolkit or supported installer if available.
  2. Select the intended domain and installation directory carefully. Avoid overwriting an existing site; back it up or use a separate staging environment first.
  3. Set a unique administrator account and strong password, configure HTTPS and verify the site address. Keep installation and account details in a secure password manager.
  4. Apply updates, remove unused default content and plugins, configure backups and build the essential pages. Keep a staging site blocked from indexing until it is ready.

Check the result

Open the public site, sign in and out, check permalinks and images, and submit a form to your own test inbox. Confirm backups and scheduled tasks before launch.

Before you proceed

Do not assume a one-click installation includes ongoing plugin support, custom design or malware removal. Confirm the hosting provider's application-management scope.
