Migration
Moving a Website From cPanel to Plesk
Check backup compatibility and recreate website, database and mail settings in the destination panel.
cPanel and Plesk organise accounts and exports differently. A full backup from one panel is not automatically a one-click restore in the other. Confirm available migration tools and access levels before treating the move as a panel import.
Practical steps
- Record hosted domains, document roots, runtime versions, databases, mailboxes, DNS and scheduled tasks. Ask the destination provider what its migration process can import.
- Create verified file and database exports and protect configuration secrets. Keep an independent copy outside the account you are moving.
- Recreate the necessary destination settings and import supported data. Check filesystem paths, permissions, database credentials, application configuration and scheduled-job commands.
- Test privately before updating DNS. Coordinate email separately, perform a final data sync where needed and keep the source available until the destination is verified.
Check the result
Test website routes, uploads, forms, jobs and mail, then inspect application logs for path or permission errors. Confirm that SSL and DNS management remain available after the old account closes.
Before you proceed
Do not upload an entire backup archive into a public website folder. It may expose databases, passwords and customer data even if the application appears to work.
